The story follows Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a Jewish prince in ancient Rome, who is betrayed by his adoptive brother Messala (Toby Kebbell) and falsely accused of treason. After being enslaved and sent to the galleys, Judah survives and returns to seek vengeance. Along the way, he encounters Jesus Christ, whose teachings of forgiveness ultimately lead Judah to a path of redemption. Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, the 2016 adaptation is noted for its action sequences and updated visual style.
